Airborne Assault - Game 2 Highway to the Reich

Distributed by Matrix Games, Highway To the Reich (HTTR) is the second game based on the Panther Games Advanced Wargaming System (PAWS).

Description

Highway To The Reich is based on the same Pausable Continuous Time game engine than Red Devils over Arnhem. This time, the game covers the whole Operation Market Garden.

In addition to the new maps and scenarios, the following improvements are made to the game engine :
- arty tabs,
- unit logs,
- bridging units and new "build bridge" order,
- improved armor and support unit behavior,
- unit filters, intel filters and small icons,
- preview of the facing and area occupied by units,
- moddable map graphics

The order of battle includes :
- Bristish 1st Airborne Div.
- American 82nd and 101st Airborne Div.
- British XXXth Army Corps, with the Guards armoured Div.
- British 7th Armoured Div.
- German 1st and 2nd Pz Div.
- German 2nd Pz Korp, with 9th and 10th SS Pz Div.
- German 88th Korps, with various infantry and FJ units

Historical context

September 1944, General Montgomery mounts the most daring Allied offensive of WW2. The plan is ambitious. Drop thirty thousand airborne troops deep behind enemy lines, seize the vital bridges across the Rhine, secure the highway to the Reich, advance the Allied armies into the German heartland and end the war by Christmas.

Airborne Assault - Highway To The Reich contains :
- 34 scenarios, covering the full Operation Market Garden, from the breakout at Neerpelt to the para rescue at Arnhem. Due to the size of the operation and the scale of the game, largest scenarios cover the main battles for the bridges in Eindhoven, Nijmegen and Arnhem.
- 3 large maps of Holland, with some smaller maps for small scenarios
- MapMaker to create ones own maps
- ScenMaker to create ones own scenario
- Complete manual, with 2 extensive tutorials
